PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supporting device for a surveying instrument which can perform a survey accurately without requiring to support by hands. SOLUTION: The supporting device for a surveying instrument comprises a mounting substrate 4 having a clamp mechanism 3, which is detachably clamped to a flange section 2a of an H-beam 2, on its side surface, an L-shaped supporting plate 5 which is supported on the other side surface of the mounting substrate 4 through an attitude adjustment mechanism 15 which is rotatively adjustable about a horizontal axis, and a movable supporting base 7 to which a laser level 21 can be detachably attached and is supported on the upper surface of the L-shaped supporting plate 5 through a height adjustment mechanism 6.
