PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for supporting quick and easy fault location in an optical fiber. SOLUTION: This method is used for detecting and displaying the distance to a fault spot and an optical loss at the spot in an optical core (optical fiber) of an optical fiber cable 1 or a drop optical fiber 3, and the distance to spots 101, 102, 103, 2 bent by a tool so that an optical loss larger than the optical loss can be detected and optical losses at the spots.
