<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with the sensing of a small amount of fog by sensing a solid white image while changing an image formation condition, measuring the amount of the fog at the time, and determining the image formation condition that the fog is minimum. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes at least an image carrier, an electrifying means for electrifying the image carrier at prescribed polarity, an exposing means for forming an electrostatic latent image on the image carrier, a process device including a development apparatus visualizing the electrostatic latent image formed on the image carrier, a sensing pattern generating means for forming a prescribed sensing pattern by controlling the process device, a sensing means for sensing the sensing pattern, and an image formation condition controlling means by controlling the image formation condition on the basis of the sensing means. The sensing pattern is formed in combination of a part performing exposure by the exposing means and a part not performing exposure, and the image forming apparatus is configured so as to determine the image formation condition on the basis of both the sensing result of the part performing exposure and the detection result of the part not performing exposure by sensing the sensing pattern formed in the image formation condition of a plurality of levels. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
