<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic capacitance type detecting device having coordinate detection precision heightened by preventing effects from outside a sensing region as much as possible. <P>SOLUTION: By providing, for example, a shielding member as an electrostatic protection means for extension lines Xa and Ya extended from the sensing region A to switching means 21X and 21Y via derived regions Bx and By, it is possible to suppress the amount of change in electrostatic capacitance for the movement of a body to be detected even if the body to be detected such as a finger is in contact with the derived regions Bx and By.
