PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical deflector with which the diminishing the diameter of an focusing beam and the enlargement of a scanning width, i.e., the broadening of an angle of field are possible without increasing a revolution. SOLUTION: The form of an concave cylindrical curved mirror 141 of the optical deflector 122 is a concave cylindrical curved face. Assuming a necessary angle of field isα, the angle of field of an actual flat mirror isβ, a magnification ratio of the angle of fieldηis defined byη=α/β, and the circumradius of the flat mirror is r0, then the radius of curvature r of the convex cylindrical curved mirror (reflection face 141) is set at the value obtained by r=r0×1/(η-1).
