METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PREDICTING AND/OR AVOIDING LEAN BLOWOUT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of predicting lean blowout (LBO) in a gas turbine engine. SOLUTION: The method comprises the step (116) of extracting a plurality of sounds in a pressure signal (102) indicating the pressure within a can of a combustor which is to be monitored; the step (128) of tracking a frequency of a high-temperature sound in the can to be monitored; and the step (124) of obtaining the probability of LBO by utilizing the extracted sounds and the tracked frequency. The probability of LBO obtained in the above step (124) becomes higher when the high-temperature sound is weakened and the frequency thereof is shifted. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
