PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce maintenance control cost during long-term use, by enhancing corrosion resistance and durability, while reducing manufacturing cost of a water intake device for taking water from a dam. SOLUTION: A water intake passage forming body 5 vertically arranged along a dam bank body and having an intake water swallowing port on the upper end, is arranged for taking water of an optional layer of the dam. This water intake passage forming body 5 is composed of an expandable bellows-shaped water intake cylinder 20. The bellows-shaped water intake cylinder 20 is constituted by serially connecting a plurality of annular bodies 21 having an outer peripheral shape of a truncated cone. A plurality of metallic annular inner diameter side pipe materials are arranged for connecting a small diameter end part of respective pairs of vertically adjacent annular bodies 21. A plurality of metallic annular outer diameter side pipe materials are arranged for connecting a large diameter end part of respective pairs of vertically adjacent annular bodies.
