PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dramatically increase selectable sizes of recording sheets by well maintaining a balance among suction force applied on the recording sheet changeable by the sizes of the recording sheets by a vacuum means, centrifugal force applied on the recording sheet changeable by the rotating speed of a rotating drum, and releasing force by an air flow, without decreasing the quality of the image recorded. SOLUTION: The image recording apparatus is equipped with the rotating drum which is hollow and is provided with a plurality of through-holes penetrating inward from the peripheral face, and holds the recording sheet wound and rotates, and the vacuum means making the inside of the rotating drum vacuum, and records the image on the recording sheet wound on the rotating drum. The image recording apparatus is characterized by making the density of the holes provided in a region on which the recording sheet is wound in the vicinity of the edge positions of the recording sheet higher than the density of the holes provided in other region when the recording sheet is wound on the rotating drum.
