PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine having a deodorizing means which can deodorize odor of an object to be deodorized using functional water and a control method thereof, and a washing machine with a deodorizing means which can deodorize independently from a washing process and a control method thereof. SOLUTION: This washing machine having a deodorizing means includes a tub 11 to contain wash water therein, a washing drum 12 rotatably installed in the tub 11, a deodorizing means which is placed in a body 10 and deodorizes odor of washing placed in the washing drum 12, and a control device which controls the deodorizing means so that a deodorizing mode is carried out independently of a washing process. The deodorizing means includes a functional water producing device 20 or 100 to produce functional water having a deodorizing effect, a heating tank 41 to receive and heat the functional water, and a steam supply pipe 71 to supply steam obtained from the functional water heated by the heating tank 41 to an object to be deodorized placed in the washing drum 12.
