The method for producing a machine part (1) with a cast mineral coating (2) involves provision of the surface (10) to be coated with an intermediate layer (3) of an elastic compressible material whose thickness is greater than the maximum roughness of this surface. An independent claim is also included for an application of the proposed method for production of a housing for a pump for delivery of abrasive, aggressive and/or corrosive media.
