The chest (1) can be used at home or in an office and is closed with shutters (2) assembled of a multitude of connected slats. The shutters (2) can be wound up on a drum attached to the top (3) of the chest when opened and are guided in lateral grooves (15) with the outer ends of the slats. The last of the slats (4) is fitted with a braking mechanism operated with a rotating handle acting on a spring supported lever system. Rubber elements attached to the outer levers are pushed against the lateral panels and released by the mechanism when the shutters (2) are to be moved.
