PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording information storage medium, a recording/reproducing method and a recording/reproducing apparatus. SOLUTION: This optical recording information storage medium includes a user data area to record user data, and a spare area for replacement blocks that replace defect blocks occurring in the user data area, wherein DFL (defect list) entries including status information of the defect blocks and the replacement blocks are managed and when the defect blocks existing in the user data area exist in the user data area even after re-initialization before the spare area is newly allocated to re-initialize the medium, the state information of the defect block is changed to state information representing that the defect block is a re-initialized one and has a possibility of being defective. Consequently, disk re-initialization can be quickly performed, and block defective state information is managed to thereby hereafter eliminate an unneeded operation of a drive system, improving the drive system.
