<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handrail installing structure installable with excellent settlement, capable of easily positioning an installing backing material, and capable of firmly installing a handrail even on a wall surface of Shinkabe wall construction (wall finished face made lower than columns, in Japanese style) without projecting the installing backing material from a surface of columns. <P>SOLUTION: This structure installs the handrail 4 between the columns 3 of the inter-column wall construction 1 by respectively arranging at least one set of a cross-sectional substantially L-shaped metal fitting 2 composed of a column installing piece part 21 and a wall installing piece part 22 on one column 3 and the other column 3 of the inter-column wall construction 1 so as to be mutually opposed. The column installing piece part 21 is allowed to abut on a side surface of the column 3, and the wall installing piece part 22 is allowed to abut on a surface of a wall 5. The cross-sectional substantially L-shaped metal fitting 2 is arranged on the column 3 by driving a fastener 6 in the oblique direction toward the column 3 from an internal angle of the cross-sectional substantially L-shaped metal fitting 2.
