<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical catheter tube which has a high degree of freedom for adjusting and controlling rigidity and flexibility gradually and allows to set its states in accordance with various access routes, and also to provide a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The medical catheter tube comprises an inner layer tube, a reinforcing material layer, and an outer layer tube. The medical catheter tube is characterized as follows: the reinforcing material layer is made of a filament body which is a strand having a cross section made of an arc and a chord or a strand having a polygonal cross section, such as pentagonal or less, with less than two pairs of parallel sides, and the longest side of the strand is wound around the inner layer tube so that the longest side contacts the inner layer tube; the outer layer tube is made of a resin tube whose Shore D hardness is changed by at least one step from a base section to a tip section of the catheter tube; and the tip section of the catheter tube does not have the reinforcing material layer. Because the medical catheter tube has the reinforcing material layer, the outer layer tube and such a configuration, the flexural rigidity of the medical catheter tube can be reduced gradually or continuously from the base section to the tip section. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
