PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical sensor which detects the two-dimensional moving position of a light beam extensively and with high precision. SOLUTION: The optical sensor 38 comprises a light source 10 and a light receiving element 24 which receives a light beam from the light source 10 to detect the two dimensional moving position of an incident light beam on the basis of an output of the light receiving element 24. A light receiving area 30 of the light receiving element 24 is divided into a first area A and a second area B by a first division line 40 which is parallel to a first direction X.
