PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film scanner capable of automatically detecting occurrence of reading abnormity of an image caused by shock and vibration and avoiding deterioration in the processing efficiency by automatically restoring the abnormity. SOLUTION: The film scanner includes: a film carrying section 20 for carrying a film F; an image read section 30 for reading a frame image recorded on the film F carried by the film carrying section 20; an image read process control means 40 for controlling an image read process by the sections above; and a vibration detection sensor S for detecting vibration exerted to the film carrying section 20 or the image read section 30, discriminates the frame image read from the film to be an abnormal image when it is discriminated that a detected vibration level by the vibration detection sensor S exceeds a prescribed permissible level during the reading of the image from the film F, stops the image reading of the frame image by the image read section 30 and executes the image read process of a succeeding frame image.
