PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the rigidity of casings when an interpupillary distance is made wide. SOLUTION: Binoculars 10 enables the interpupillary distance to be adjusted by separating a movable casing 32 which incorporates a right observation optical system 35, from a main body casing 31 which incorporates a left observation optical system 33. Reinforcement casings 38 and 39 are disposed under the left and right observation optical systems 33 and 35, respectively so as to be fixed to the main body casing 31. Each of the reinforcement casings 38 and 39 uses an electric substrate 56 as one of its external walls and the inside of the reinforcement casing is formed into a hollow rectangular parallelepiped.
