PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earthquake tremor attenuation device designed for estimated earthquake having intensity 5 or the like and equipped with a means for preventing its damage. SOLUTION: This earthquake tremor reducing joint (connection fitting) is attached to the optimum position for eliminating earthquake tremor on a shelf. Earthquake tremor of about intensity 5 acts on a bottom point of a shaft of the joint and is offset by inertia moment. At the same time, earthquake longitudinal wave is eliminated by interference of waves of inertia waves caused by earthquake tremor. Difference in phase is adjusted by degree of tightening of the shaft to improve effect of the interference. When this joint is not mounted on the shelf and a head part of a stepladder verifying earthquake tremor, it vibrates violently like a metronome and an object on the shelf jumps out. When this joint is mounted, an object for confirmation with a slide-door roller at the uppermost step remains stationary for the ground. When this earthquake tremor reducing joint is mounted, there is possibility for protecting the shelf, a steel tower, audio equipment, a computer, and an important cultural property from damage of earthquake tremor of about intensity 5.
