PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound absorbing carpet capable of obtaining an excellent sound absorbing feature and maintaining a sufficient silence. SOLUTION: The sound absorbing carpet comprises a sound absorbing nonwoven fabric layer 6 piled and integrated with the lower face side of an outermost material layer 10, wherein flat fibers with a flat cross section is employed for at least a part of constitutional fibers of the nonwoven fabric layer 6. The rate of the flat of the flat fibers is preferably 5-40%. A water repellent agent preferably sticks on at least a part of the constitutional fibers of the nonwoven fabric layer 6.
