PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a painting brush with hydrophobic fiber as a material of bristles, with excellent paint holding properties (a large quantity of paint can be held), capable of preventing brush mark (bristle mark) from being formed on a paint-coated surface. SOLUTION: The painting brush comprises a handle body 14 with a brush holder part (a clasping part) 12, and a brush body 16 tied and held to the brush holder part 12. The bristles of the brush body are made of hydrophobic fiber whose moisture percentage (at 20°C, 95% RH) in the water absorbency is not more than 5%. The root of the brush body 16 is surrounded by a band material 22, and a core material 24 is inserted and driven from the root part side into the center.
