PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing (meth)acrylic acid and a (meth)acrylic acid ester, by which a continuous stable operation is carried out for a long period of time. SOLUTION: The method for producing (meth)acrylic acid and a (meth)acrylic acid ester comprises a process A for obtaining crude (meth)acrylic acid, a process B for purifying the crude (meth)acrylic acid to give product (meth)acrylic acid and a process C for reacting the crude (meth)acrylic acid with an alcohol to produce a (meth)acrylic acid ester. When the plant of the process B or the process C each having a plurality of plants laid in parallel is stopped, excessive generated crude (meth)acrylic acid is temporarily stored in a tank, the stopped plant is restored and then the crude (meth)acrylic acid stored in the tank is supplied to the plant of the process B and/or the process C.
