PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet-like member carrying device of an inexpensive constitution capable of correcting a skew so as to accurately become straight to a reading part. SOLUTION: This sheet-like member carrying device has regist rollers 24 and 25 for correcting the skew of a document, a driving motor 35 for driving the regist rollers 24 and 25, an electromagnetic clutch 37 interposed between the regist roller 24 and the driving motor 35, two regist sensors 4L and 4R juxtaposed in the horizontal direction orthogonal to the document carrying direction on the just upstream side in the document carrying direction of the regist rollers 24 and 25 and detecting the passing of the document, and a controller 5 for outputting a driving signal for driving the regist rollers 24 and 25 by connecting the electromagnetic clutch 37 after passing a carrying time T required for carrying the document between the two regist sensors 4L and 4R and the regist rollers 24 and 25 when detecting the passing of the tip of the document by both two regist sensors 4L and 4R.
