A coupling for a metallurgical vessel, especially a steel casting ladle with two gas scavenging lines, a pan-shaped first (1) and second (2) coupling part with two gas inlet channels, gas exit channels, a locking element in the ladle scavenging device for controlling the blocking or unblocking of the gas flow, where part (2) includes a locking element in each gas exit and a further locking element outside part (2) and in the gas flow and connected to a permanently open gas inlet or outlet. An independent claim is included for a method coupling a metallurgical vessel to gas scavenging lines.
