Strip assembly for wall panels

A strip assembly for securing a panel (9) to a wall or like surface (7) comprises at least two strips adapted to be secured to the wall or like surface (7). Each strip is substantially L-shaped in cross-section, one limb (1) being adapted to be secured to the wall or like surface (7) and the other limb (3) being adapted to receive the edge of a panel (9). The strips are spaced apart so as to accommodate the panel (9) between them and each strip is provided with means for holding the panel (9) once the panel has been positioned in the strips. The holding means may comprise a pair of jaws (4, 5) forming part of the said other limb (3) and the jaws are arranged to be forced apart by a wedging member (12) when said member is forced between the jaws so that one of the jaws (4) engages the edge of the panel (9) to hold the panel in position. The wedging member (12) may be formed integrally with a cover strip (11). Bracket support means [see figure 7] may also be provided for supporting a number of brackets 21 from the strip assembly.
