<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily make braking function intelligent by pressing friction material to a rotor by a brake piston with liquid pressure when a motor-driven pump forcibly feeds liquid to a pressure chamber in a body cylinder holding the brake piston slidably. SOLUTION: When a motor-driven pump 11 forcibly feeds liquid to a pressure chamber 5 in a body cylinder 7 holding a brake piston 4 slidably, the brake piston 4 presses a pad 3 to a brake disc 2 with its liquid pressure. Braking force generated by a braking device of such constitution is proportional to pressing force of the brake piston 4, and this pressing force is controlled by the quantity and pressure of liquid forcibly fed into the pressure chamber 5 from the motor-driven pump 11. Since the quantity and pressure of liquid delivered by the motor-driven pump 11 can be electrically controlled, the pressing force of the brake piston 4 can also be controlled electrically. As a result, braking function is easily made intelligent.</p> |
