<p>A method for testing valuable documents, especially banknotes, in which the banknote is illuminated in a part-zone with a intensity (Ib) and at one or more measurement points (2) the intensity (It) of the light transmitted by the part zone of the banknote and the intensity (Ir) of the light reflected, especially returned, from the part-zone of the bank-note (1) is detected.
