A washing machine, which removes offensive odour from laundry without operating wash, rinse and/or dehydration modes, and a deodorizing method thereof. The washing machine includes a deodorizing tub (21), into which objects to be deodorized are put, a duct (30) communicating with the deodorizing tub (21) and serving as a passage for air containing odour particles separated from the objects in the deodorizing tub, and a deodorizing unit (50) for removing the odour particles from the air passing through the duct (30). The deodorizing method includes separating odour particles from objects to be deodorized, and removing the separated odour particles by filtering out the separated odour particles with a deodorizing filter (52). <IMAGE>
