The umbrella has an upper row of ribs (2) pivotally connected to a part (3) which can be rotated relative to the central shaft (1), and has a lower row of ribs (4) with one end pivotally connected to the ends of the ribs in the upper row and the other end pivotally connected to a ring (6). The shaft includes an externally threaded section (7) located beneath the rotary part for cooperating with a thread on the inside of the ring. The rotary part comprises a disc pivotally connected to the ends of the ribs in the upper row.
