PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens system for projection which is thinner and which has excellently corrected aberrations in the lens system for projection equipped with a means for bending an optical path. SOLUTION: The lens system 5 for projection which projects projection light from a light valve 4 onto a screen 9, has a 1st lens group G1 arranged most at screen 9 side. The 1st lens group G1 includes a 1st meniscus lens L10 which is located at a screen 9 side, is convex to the screen 9 side and has negative refracting power; a cemented lens B1 which is located at a light valve 4 side; and a mirror 6 which is arranged at a screen side of the cemented lens B1. By arranging the lens and the mirror 6, the cemented lens B1 is provided and aberrations can be more excellently corrected without increasing the thickness of a bent part.
