PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a storage medium or a storage device from being damaged by the application of a vibration, an impact or the like during an access time to the storage medium. SOLUTION: In this car navigation device equipped with a disk-shaped storage device using a disk-shaped storage medium, the own car position is detected and collated with map information, to thereby grasp a traveling spot. A spot where a vibration occurs in a vehicle on a traveling route is predicted based on a map database, road traffic information or the like. A time slot wherein the predicted vibration occurrence spot is passed is predicted from the vehicle speed. When data writing into/reading from the disk-shaped storage device becomes necessary, the time required for writing/reading is calculated from the data size, and it is determined whether writing/reading can be finished before the start of the vibration occurrence or not. When predicted that the operation can be finished, the writing/reading operation is started immediately. When determined that the operation cannot be finished, the writing/reading operation is started after waiting until the operation can be predicted to be finished. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
