PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-life organic electroluminescent element capable of providing luminescence usable for illumination such as a fluorescent lamp or an incandescent lamp without using a device generating high frequencies. SOLUTION: This organic electroluminescent element is equipped with: an anode; a cathode; an organic compound layer located between the anode and the cathode; a D.C. power source connected to the anode and the cathode; and a carrier supply substance included in the organic compound layer for supplying at least either of electrons and holes into the organic compound.
