PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document reading device of sheet-through type capable of automatically removing a foreign matter without performing foreign matter removing work such as wiping-off of document glass by a serviceman or a caretaker even if the foreign matter adheres to the document glass. SOLUTION: In this document reading device of sheet-through type provided with a document feeding part A1 for supplying document 1 toward a document reading position 3 on the document glass 6, a document conveyance part A provided with a document delivery part A2 for delivering the document 1 onto a side opposing to the document feeding part A1 across the document reading position 3, and a document reading part B for reading image information of the document 1 passing through the document reading position 3, a conveyance mode switching means for switching a conveyance mode of the document conveyed by the document conveyance part A to a foreign matter removal conveyance mode when detecting the foreign matter on the document glass 6 by the document reading part B.
