PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packaging material which has extremely superior shrinkability and high tear strength. SOLUTION: The packaging material is a satin-woven or twilled packaging cloth which at least includes, as part of its warps and wefts, a string-like stretch material that is made of a polyolefin compound containing a linear low-density polyethylene of 10 to 90 mass% which has a density of 0.905 to 0.945 g/cm<SP>3</SP>and shows a melt flow rate of 0.1 to 3 g/10 min, and a random polypropylene of 90 to 10 mass% which contains an ethylene of 2 to 12 mass% and shows a melt flow rate of 10 g/10 min or less.
