<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively reduce cost increase of an optical pickup device caused by addition of a liquid crystal aberration correction element. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal aberration correction element for correcting the aberration of light flux incident to a condensing means in an optical pickup device which performs one or more of information recording. reproducing and erasing by condensing straightly polarized light radiated from a light source through the condensing means onto a recording plane of an optical disk, comprises a liquid crystal 402 and first and second translucent substrates 401, 403 holding the liquid crystal 402 like a thin layer.
