<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the throughput in a printing process to paper which is smaller than the maximum paper size, in a printing system by an electrophotographic process. <P>SOLUTION: When data for one block is received via a host I/F, a page data is expanded and inputted to page queue. When expansion of continuing pages N and M are finished (S2, S3), image-forming conditions for them are compared with each other, to determine which of a one page forming mode for forming only one page on an intermediate transfer drum, or a two pages forming mode for forming more than one page is to be used. Comparison of the image-forming conditions is carried out for conditions, such as a paper supply opening (S4), color mode (S5), transport mode (S6), a paper-ejecting mode (S7), paper size (S8), printing mode (S9), toner concentration (S10) and resolution (S11); and when these agree, printing is carried out using the two-page formation mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
