<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light guide plate hardly causing luminance irregularity in an emission part, and to provide a surface light source device using the light guide plate. <P>SOLUTION: This light guide plate 14 includes: the emission part 18 for emitting light; a reflecting part 19 facing the emission part 18; and a plurality of flat incident surfaces 20A, 20B, 20C and 20D each making light incident between the emission part 18 and the reflecting part 19. The emission part 18 is composed by arranging a plurality of projections 22 in parallel with one another. The incident surfaces 20A and 20C are so formed that their normal lines 201 are parallel with a plane H1 defined by the length direction Q1 of the projections 22 and the arrangement direction Q2 of the projections 22 and directed toward an end surface 143.
