<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planar light emitting unit with mutually opposed light sources which can emit light without having unevenness of emission. <P>SOLUTION: The planar light emitting unit 1 comprises a surface part 2, a light guiding plate 3, a first light source 4, a second light source 5, and a substrate 6. The second light source 5 is located on the rear face side of the optical axis 4A of the light emitted by the first light source 4 and the first light source 4 is supported in the state that the light emitted by the second light source 5 can pass its rear side 1, and a reflecting layer 6 which reflects the light that is emitted by the second light source 5 and has passed the rear side of the first light source 4 toward the surface side direction is provided.
