PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic solvent sol of anhydrous zinc antimonate or metal oxides, in which particles of the anhydrous zinc antimonate or the metal oxides are dispersed in an organic solvent, in particular a hydrophobic organic solvent without aggregating in a state close to primary particles. SOLUTION: In the sol, surface-modified colloidal particles are dispersed in a liquid. The surface-modified colloidal particles are obtained by using, as nuclei, anhydrous zinc antimonate colloidal particles or metal oxide particles comprising a tin atom, zinc atom, antimony atom and oxygen atom, and coating the surface of each nucleus with an aluminum-containing substance, a polymer-type surfactant or both of them. An aluminum chelating agent can be used as the aluminum-containing substance, and as the polymer-type surfactant, a polycarboxylic acid ester-based or polyethylene glycol monoaliphatic acid ester-based surfactant can be used.
