PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continue a recording operation beyond a defect portion by suppressing temporal omission of recording data even in the situation wherein data are continuously inputted, if a recording error occurs in the defect portion. SOLUTION: If a recording error is detected, a controller 10 creates a NWA (Next Write Address) by adding address information of a sector of a writable recording track next to a defect portion on an optical disk 1. Error information is then outputted to a host device 11 together with the NWA. In such a case, if recording data are outputted from the host device 11 next to the recording error, an optical pickup 4 is moved based on the NWA. If no seek error is detected, address information of a sector where the recording error occurs, and of a sector where recording is to be normally performed after the recording error, is recorded in a home position in the inner periphery of the optical disk 1.
