<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cost of equipment and operation in response to air conditioning of various special environments. <P>SOLUTION: This heat pump type air conditioner has first and second compression type heat pumps A and B; and is attached with a third compression type heat pump C. A refrigerant-air heat exchange third evaporator 2c of the third heat pump C, a refrigerant-air heat exchange first evaporator 2a of the first heat pump A, and a refrigerant-air heat exchange second evaporator 2b of the second heat pump B are arranged in order in the air blowing direction. A first condenser 3a is used in common by the first heat pump A and the second heat pump B. The respective evaporators 2a, 2b and 2c of the first, second and third heat pumps A, B and C are constituted so that refrigerant evaporation/refrigerant condensation can be freely switched.
