<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seabed observation instrument for improved reliability while suppressing increase in the scale of instrument and price. <P>SOLUTION: In a seabed observation instrument 1, a branching part 63 branches off wavelength light λ1 from the multiple-wavelength light signal. An observation signal modulator 64 modulates the intensity of the branched wavelength light λ1 using the observation information multiplexed by an observation signal multiplexer 61. A multiplexer 65 multiplexes the wavelength light λ1a modulated by the observation signal modulating part 64 with optical signals λ2-λn which have passed the branching part 63 and have been multiplexed for wavelength, and is outputted to an optical fiber 12a. Seabed observation instruments 2-n are also configured like the seabed observation instrument 1. Relating to seabed observation instruments 1-n, no optical transmitter for wavelength division multiplex transmission that requires high wavelength stability is required for use, and increase in instrument scale and price can be suppressed, resulting in improved reliability. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
