PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform proper development, while preventing so-called trailing/leading using a simple configuration. SOLUTION: A developing device 1 is such that in the magnetic poles generated by a magnetic field generating means 3 of the development device 1, the maximal value F0 of the magnetic attractive force near the main magnetic pole S1 is located in the downstream side in the rotation direction of a developer carrying body 2 from the peak position of magnetic flux density in the normal direction of the main magnetic pole S1, for example, on the downstream side in the rotation direction of the developer carrying body, by at least an angle of 8°or larger from the peak position of the magnetic flux density in the normal direction of the main magnetic pole S1; and the magnetic attractive force shows a peaky distribution with a narrow half width, for example, 54°or smaller of the maximal value F0.
