<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system which facilitates modification of color information for each of printer devices. <P>SOLUTION: The printing system has a connecting means for transferring the color information which includes gamma values of a highlight value, a half tone value, a shadow value, etc., set in a host device as color characteristics, to a basic printer device, a setting means for setting the color information set in the host device in the basic printer device, a storing means for storing the color information modified by the setting means, an information converting means for converting the color information modified by the basic printer device into color information optimal to each printer device, an information monitoring means for monitoring the color information set in the basic printer device, and an information acquiring means for acquiring the color information from the basic printer device.
