<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which is of a tandem type for performing flying printing, can adequately perform treatment of a blank portion, can improve the treatment performance, and can efficiently use a memory. <P>SOLUTION: This tandem type printer receives image data transmitted from a host device and allows a printing engine to perform the printing by a plurality of colors according to the received image data. The printer comprises a data storage means for storing the received image data and a data transfer means for reading the image data stored in the data storage means to transfer it to the side of the printing engine. In the case where flying start is carried out, the data transfer means generates data for a blank portion in relation to the blank portion not having the image data by each of the colors and transfers the data for the blank portion when transferring the data to the printing engine. In the case where the flying start is not carried out, the data transfer means does not generate the data for the blank portion nor transfers the data for the blank portion when transferring the data to the side of the printing engine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
