<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a press operation type variable resistor unlikely to cause erroneous operation even when an operation range upon press operation is increased, and to provide an electronic instrument using it. <P>SOLUTION: The variable resistor comprises an insulating base 1 on which one of a band-shaped resistor pattern 2 and a conductor pattern 10 is provided, and a flexible insulating substrate 9 disposed oppositely to the insulating base 1 on which the other of the resistor pattern 2 and the conductor pattern 10 is provided. The resistor pattern 2 and the conductor pattern 10 are disposed oppositely via a predetermined gap. The resistor pattern 2 and the conductor pattern 10 are assumed to be brought into contact with each other at a press position by pressing the insulating substrate 9. The insulating substrate 9 is engaged with an elastic member 12 and held by the same such that tensile force is applied to the insulating substrate 9 in a direction where the resistor pattern 2 or the conductor pattern 10 are extended. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
