<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize intuitive and accurate perception by an operator on which depth position a pointer is located and where the pointer is pointing, in pointing using a pointer in a three-dimensional GUI. <P>SOLUTION: A pointing method is provided for pointing by making a pointer, which is indicated on a display unit capable of expressing a three-dimensional space, move and rotate in a two-dimensional plane, and pointing an arbitrary position in the three-dimensional space expressed on the display unit by moving the pointer in the normal line direction (hereafter referred to as depth direction) of the two-dimensional plane. The pointing method includes a step 1 for displaying the pointer on the display unit by moving or rotating the pointer in the two-dimensional space, and a step 2 for displaying the pointer on the display unit by moving the pointer in the depth direction. The step 2 further includes a step 3 for displaying the pointer on the display unit by changing the depth position of one end of the pointer, while maintaining the depth position of a portion of the pointer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
