PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white light-emitting device having excellent light-emitting characteristics, and to provide an excellent method for producing the device. SOLUTION: The white light-emitting device comprises a light-emitting diode capable of emitting ultraviolet rays, a first fluorescent powder emitting blue-green-colored fluorescence having 470-500 nm main wave length region by being excited by the ultraviolet rays emitted from the light-emitting diode, and having the chemical formula: (Ba<SB>1-x-y</SB>Eu<SB>x</SB>Sr<SB>y</SB>)MgAl<SB>10</SB>O<SB>17</SB>(wherein, (x) and (y) satisfy the relations of 0<x≤1 and 0≤y≤1), and a second fluorescent powder emitting orange-colored fluorescence having 570-600 nm main wave length region by being excited by the ultraviolet rays emitted from the light-emitting diode, and having the chemical formula: (Ca, Eu, Mn)(PO<SB>4</SB>)<SB>3</SB>Cl.
