PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head slider material, in which difference in level of an air bearing surface is reduced and strength is increased, a magnetic head slider using the material and a manufacturing method of the material.

SOLUTION: The magnetic head slider material includes alumina, titanium carbide and carbon and is made from a sintered compact which includes titanium carbide 20 to 120 pts.wt. and carbon 0.2 to 9 pts.wt. when the weight of alumina is set to 100 pts.wt.
