PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus which reduces a cost and can display a reduced image of a photographing image at early timing immediately after photographing. SOLUTION: A first control means (sub-CPU 214) controls the switching timing of a switching means (switching unit 209) based on the status transition of the storage operation of a compressed image data memory (JPEG image memory 207) and the state transition of a storage operation to a reduced image data memory (reduced image memory 208).
