PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for welding a container which can prevent the deformation in a container body and a primary lid. SOLUTION: This apparatus is provided with a heating means 8 to heat the primary lid 6 fitted into the container body and a welding means 9 to weld the primary lid 6 to the container body. When the primary lid 6 is welded to the container body by the welding means 9, the primary lid 6 is heated in advance by the heating means 8 to suppress deformation caused by the welding.
